How is your food different from other caterers'?
All of our menu items are homemade and made to order. Nothing is pulled from a freezer box or can. Additionally, only the hightest-quality ingredients are used when preparing your meal. This assures that your chosen menu is suited perfectly to your tastes and expectations. If the father of the bride despises garlic with poultry, no problem....we'll leave it off of his Tuscan-style stuffed chicken! Making everything from scratch the day of your event ensures a quality, unique, and memorable menu.
Why doesn't the company have its own kitchen or storefront?
We specialize in residential events or events with an on-site kitchen. This helps to keep your cost down, though, as we don't have a rent overhead to pay. Options, by the way, are usually available for events with no available kitchen on-site, as we do have occasional access to a licensed commercial kitchen. Feel free to ask about this option!
How long have you been in business?
Spice of Life opened in 2005, and became an LLC in 2007.
Are you insured?
Yes; we carry a full policy with Ramsburg Insurance, Hartville, OH.
How large is the company in terms of staffing?
3 full-timers and 9 part-timers are employed by Spice of Life.
What is the company's gratuity policy?
All-inclusive and absolute bottom-line quotes include any applicable service charges. We have a policy of no hidden fees or gratuities. You'll know about any possible “extra” charges immediately and up-front, ensuring no surprises when you look at the bill. For example, we don't have an extra cake-cutting fee: if you need help cutting and serving the wedding cake at your reception, no problem...we're happy to help!
What kind of meal services do you provide?
We offer both plated and buffet. Also, beginning in June '09, family-style meals will be available as well.
How do I book an event with Spice of Life?
Schedule a tasting and consultation! When you try the food, and decide to book, we require 30% of your cost to save the date and a signed contract as well. (fyi: 40% is due 8 days prior to the event, 30% due by the exact start time of the event)
How much does a tasting cost?
Tastings and consultations, as well as menu ideas and quotes, are always complementary.
Why aren't there prices on Spice of Life's website?
The cost of food is always in flux, due to the seasonality of certain foods, and, at times, the economy as well. If you'd like to get an exact quote, though, on a certain item or menu, let us know and we'll happily put that together for you.
Why don't you take credit cards?
We're a relatively small company, and the fees related to accepting credit cards simply aren't in our budget right now.
